This contract role asks certified medical coders to review outpatient medical records and assign the correct ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes, including E&M leveling. The work supports the training of AI systems, and no prior AI experience is needed because coding expertise is the main requirement.

What you'll do

  • Annotate and review outpatient medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
  • Apply E&M leveling to outpatient visits using official medical decision making or total time guidelines.
  • Apply outpatient coding conventions for diagnoses, modifiers, medical necessity and linking diagnoses to procedures.
  • Give feedback on coding guidelines and edge cases to improve project workflows.
